It’s our 41st birthday, Earthlets!

With the cover date of 26th February 1977, the very first issue of 2000 AD landed on newstands in the UK and heralded a new dawn for British comics. Created by Pat Mills, 2000 AD followed in the footsteps of its predecessors Battle Picture Weekly and Action, with an addictive mix of high-concept sci-fi and high-octane action – including a reimagining of classic hero Dan Dare, deadly future sports series Harlem Heroes, ‘cowboys versus dinosaurs’ series Flesh, hyper hero M.A.C.H.1, and the tale of one man standing up a foreign invasion of Britain in Invasion! Few could have predicted that four decades later 2000 AD would not only have survived, but thrived in the 21st Century!

Hear about the genesis of 2000 AD from one of the people who witnessed it, editor and writer Kelvin Gosnell, on the 2000 AD podcast!
